Romana Stark
Dr Romana Stark (PhD) is a metabolic neuroscientist at Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute. Her research examines how hypothalamic and reward circuits integrate hormonal signals, nutrient sensing and smell to control appetite, energy balance and blood glucose. Trained at Düsseldorf, Yale and Monash, she has worked with Prof Zane Andrews since 2012 and became a group leader in 2019 after winning NHMRC funding to study how the brain detects low blood sugar. She has 40+ publications (h-index 27) and her work identifies new therapeutic targets for obesity and type 2 diabetes.
