Sahar Keshvari

Dr Sahar Keshvari is an emerging leader in obesity, diabetes, and immunometabolic research and an Honorary Research Fellow. She is an NHMRC Investigator Grant recipient and a former recipient of the Liver Foundation–Professor Pauline Hall Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Dr Keshvari’s research focuses on how immune cells, particularly macrophages, regulate glucose metabolism, pancreatic islet function, and liver health in obesity and diabetes. Her work has uncovered novel immune–metabolic mechanisms with potential to improve glycaemic control and inform new treatments for metabolic liver disease. By combining mechanistic biology with translational models, Dr Keshvari aims to develop therapies that address obesity driven metabolic dysfunction and reduce long term complications for people living with obesity and diabetes.
