Kath Williamson
I currently combine being a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Bariatric Care (Community), with research at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. My special interest focusses on homebound people living with obesity, who may have little access to weight management but are often most in need of care. This stems from my extensive experience as a District Nurse in the NHS (UK), caring for people with severe obesity and the lack of evidence to guide size-inclusive care. I am the first nurse to be awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship by the Chief Scientist Office Scotland, being the Royal College of Nursing (Scotland) Nurse of the Year for Research & Innovation in 2025. I aim to work in close collaboration with health and care staff, people living with obesity and their families to develop safe, effective and equitable obesity care services, particularly for those who are homebound.
